Forty war-time airplanes, with as many pilots and mechanics were assembled at Oakland airport, California, to take part in a single spectacular battle scene for "Hell's Angels", the $3,000,000 Howard Hughes sky spectacle. The planes, pilots and mechanics are shown lined up before taking the air in mimic warfare. The single scene in which the aerial dare-devils performed cost approx $160,000-- a record high price for one "movie thrill". The black and white image measures 8" x 10". There are some markings in orange with size dimensions in centimeters (see image). This is a great historical piece for any aircraft fan or historian!Â
