Description
**Originally Listed At $225**

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. An intriguing hand-built pottery figure seated upon a wide posterior with bent legs supporting the crossed sinuous arms. Rounded shoulders taper inward to a tall head bearing a prominent nose, ovoid eyes with impressed pupils, and a wide, thin mouth, and areas of the face and limbs are accentuated with applied red pigment. An integral bowl-shaped headdress flares from the forehead, the rim encircled with additional red paint, perhaps intended for votive use as an offering holder. Size: 2.125" W x 2.9" H (5.4 cm x 7.4 cm)

Provenance: ex-private Los Angeles, California, USA collection, collected around 1975
