This lot consists of an unstretched oil painting on canvas, done in the expressive style of Vincent Van Gogh (Dutch, 1853-1890). "Vincent" is hand-painted on vase at left side of composition. Image is brimming with careful linework and creative style. This is the perfect example of the vivid, Post-Impressionist manner for which Van Gogh is so well respected. A gorgeous still life portrait of a pottery vase overflowing with heady, blooming sunflowers. This unframed piece measures approximately 38" x 30.5".

Reverse side of piece features an ink stamp which reads, "Galerie Vallauris", as well as an affixed paper label which reads, "Vincent Van Gogh. '12 Sunflowers'".

Vincent Willem van Gogh was a major Post-Impressionist painter. He was a Dutch artist whose work had a far-reaching influence on 20th-century art. His output includes portraits, self portraits, landscapes and still lifes of cypresses, wheat fields and sunflowers. Van Gogh drew as a child but did not paint until his late twenties; he completed many of his best-known works during the last two years of his life. In just over a decade he produced more than 2,100 artworks, including 860 oil paintings and more than 1,300 watercolors, drawings, sketches and prints.
