This lot consists of an oil painting on loose canvas, rendered in the modern, abstract style of Sigmar Polke (German, 1941-2010). Image depicts a blocky, textural background of primary color that has been interlaced by gestural and free-formed black lines. "Sigmar Polke" has been painted in black ink at lower right corner. This abstract piece would be a fine addition to any collection. Overall dimensions measure approximately 24" x 21".

Sigmar Polke (German, 1941-2010) was a photographer, painter, and filmmaker who experimented freely between mediums and media, giving his lifelong body of work a unique element of inspiration. Polke was a distinguished member of Capitalist Realism, an art movement which was similar to Pop Art in its nature, and largely centered around the depiction of mass culture.
