Original British Victorian sketchbook of storybook drawings between 1870-72.
Images on leaves include: Gullivers Travel-John Bull with Lilliputian, Alice in Wonderland: Tenniels White Rabbit and Mock Turtle and an improvised 2nd version of the Mock Turtle including many other fabulous drawings (several are signed).
39 sketches drawn in pencil, browned ink, or watercolor wash.
Ownership of H. Mann of Bossall School, Yorkshire, and Farnah Hall, Derbyshire including additional ownership inscription of H.S.Hooper, 1870-1872 (view ink inscriptions).
18 pp. excluding blanks.
Dimensions: 7 1/2 in. x 9 1/4 in.
Condition: drawings are in good overall condition, the outer original morocco boards are rubbed and delicate.
Provenance: private estate.

John Ruskin (British, 1819-1900) encouraged anyone to become an artist, begin by copying favorite images from published books. That is probably the source for these pictures with other imagery taken from the sources.
