Item Details

Description

Tastefully executed Vellum glaze plaque painted by Lorinda Epply and fired at Rookwood in 1916. Pictured are tangled pines done in an Arts & Crafts manner on a steep hillside with a lake in mid ground. Signed by Epply in the lower right hand corner and marked on the back with the Rookwood logo and date. Affixed to the original oak frame is a partial original Rookwood label which reads “hanging pines Epply.” Since part of the label is missing, it might reading ....changing pines” but that is just a guess. Size is 9 1/4 by 7 1/4 inches. Faint crazing. This is compositionally, the best work on a plaque by Epply that we have encountered. Very Nice.
