An oversized photo of General Grant Taken by Frederick Gutekunst after Lincoln's assassination. Philadelphia, PA, [May] 1865, 15.5" x 18", mounted on 20" x 24" board. Likely dated "October 1865" (perhaps the date of production) in light pencil on Gutekunst's label on verso. Blind stamp of Chicago Historical Society, and "Chicago Historical Society dupl" in pencil on verso. Beautifully matted and framed with a total measurement of 29" x 33".
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
