"The Jersey Lily" Collector Autograph of "Lillie Lantry"
LILLIE LANGTRY ("THE JERSEY LILY") (1853-1929). British-American socialite, Mistress of Britain's Edward VII, actress and producer.
Autographed "Lillie Langtry" on a thin cardstock measuring 4" x 5," no date or place, Very Fine. This huge autograph was cut from a sheet of Langtry's personal stationery, as indicated by the embossed, gilt log and upper left consisting of two overlapping letter L's. Four small, American Flag patriotic stickers at each corner were used to affix this in a collector's album. Langtry's flamboyant massive signature measures 4.5" across filling the card, has a nice flourish, and some smearing of the ink at left. A very popular, scarce signature.
