Japanese Carved Walrus Tusk Netsuke of Demon Spirit with Tortoise Shell
2-1/8" Well carved walrus tusk, depicting a demon spirit holding a tortoise shell, applied pigments to emphasise details; two carved apertures on the back for silk cord.
Offered with Temple Auctions, Lisburn, Northern Ireland, copy of the letter of authentication and provenance by Col. Sir George Wade's granddaughter, dated March 4, 2020.
Provenance: private collection of Colonel Sir George Albert Wade (British, 1891-1986); brought to the USA in 1964, by descent in the family to current owner.
