Description
"Rocks by the Sea" by Agnes Richmond (1870-1964), is an impressionist oil painting of a rocky shoreline. Richmond's trademark stamped signature on verso "A.M. Richmond." Known for her landscapes and female portraits, Richmond exhibited widely including the famed Panama-Pacific Exposition held in San Francisco in 1915. Very active in women's suffrage, the bright colors of her paintings often reflected feeling and the period of the times. Original painting is in great condition and comes in gold colored frame with acorns and designs on the front. Measurements: Canvas edge behind frame is 20 inches by 116 inches and frame is approximately 25.5 inches by 21.5 inches.Provenance: Private Collector out of Maine. 1% of hammer price for all items sold at Masters of Art Volume II Art Series Auction will be donated to the Humane Society.
Condition
Very good overall condition. Crisp stamp of Richmond signature on verso. Frame is gold colored with acorn design.
