This is a painting of the Ship the Allentown by listed American artist William B Eaton of Salem MA, In 1888 The Ship was carrying a cargo of Coal to Salem MA when a storm occurred and Sank the ship and its crew off the coast of Cape Anne in 200' feet of water,Recently the Ships resting place was discovered and has been designated a national grave site and monument.The artist W.B,Eaton died in 1896 and I would say the painting was done ca.1890,The painting had some tears and punctures in the canvas, To many just to have patches put on it so I brought it to a professional art restorer and had the painting lined and touched up, Most of the damage was in the sky area and not on the ship, this painting is of a historical nature, Approximate size is 31" inches tall by 44"inches long end to end of frame
