Description
Southeast Asia, Vietnam, Anamese Squat Vessel with geometric foliate pattern. With a thick, moss green crackle glaze. Anamese pottery such as this vessel resemble Chinese celadon, indicative of the Chinese influence on Vietnamese culture. Between the 14th and 17th centuries, the Annam civilization became the center of extensive ceramic production. Early on, the designs of the Annam ceramics were close to those of Chinese ceramics and porcelain. Later, the Annam civilization developed its own shapes and decorative motifs. Measures 7 1/4".
