Description

Title: Where is the Clamp? Sixth Plate Daguerreotype

Additional Info: A lovely 1/6 plate daguerreotype. O can’t believe that this frail olf woman moved her head so violently that she lifted the head restraint off the floor. I will surmise that she convinced the maker that she could stay quiet for the few seconds the lens would be uncapped. She didn’t want him to fool with her bonnet either. The man used his props extremely well and created an outstanding sixth plate. Excellent illumination gives great depth to her clothing and extends the tonality range. The seals are intact and the surface has minor patinaand maybe a couple mold spiders. Once the old glass is removed the image will gain about 10% more intensity. Full case. This image came from noted Dealer Dennis Waters and is in the fifth issue of his Daguerrian Forum.
