Description
A nice Roman terracotta head of a fashionable lady, Egypt, Alexandria, c. 2nd - 3rd Century AD, her hair styled in rows beneath a jeweled diadem to a coiled plait at the nape of her neck. Her features are handsomely modeled and holes at the sides for earrings, which were likely to have been made of gold originally. H: 2 2/5 in (6.1cm). Light deposits and mounted on a base. Ex collection of James Chesterman (1926-2014) acquired from La Reine Margot, Paris, in 1986.
