Description
A charming glass pyxis, fashioned in the early - mid 20th Century from the round feet from two Roman blue-green glass vessels, c. 1st - 4th Century AD. The lower portion has had a rim of metal added to raise the level and even it out, the 'lid' with a beautiful decorative metal element added as a handle. 1 3/4 x 2 in (4.4 x 5 cm). A very attractive and clever use of fragmentary Roman glass! Ex Lecker collection, FL, acquired in the early 1980's.
