Born December 10, 1943 in Bronx, NY, she was instantly born in the New York art scene by the age of 20 New York City had become the mecca of Abstract Expressionism, greatly influencing Gay's life and her own work. Gay was a lifelong New York City resident, an innovator, a statician, and a member of the LGBT community. Her personal experiences in NY and as a LGBT woman influenced her work greatly, she created her dreams, vision, and what she believed to be the future (Often a much brighter future). In her career she sold hundreds of works to collectors, internationally and in over 46 different states. She epitomizes the discussion of a NewYork Expressionist, she lived and worked in the same apartment for over 40 year, working with any material she could to produce her abstract works, for those that knew her best they would say her life was her art.
