From 1892, a very impressive first edition, Columbus and Columbia, A Pictorial History of the Man and the Nation.
Four authors listed, including Presidential Candidate James G. Blaine J.W. Buel, John Clark Ridpath and Benjamin Butterworth.
The color chromolithograph prints are truly incredible, showing such highlights as Columbus in the New World, early Indian Wars, the Civil War, the Revolutionary War.
Note color prints of the battle of Bull Run, General Putnam's Daring Ride, Saving the Life of Commodore Decatur, etc.
At the rear of the book there is a section of the Worlds Columbian Exposition, which celebrated 500 years since Columbus set foot in the New World.
A key element here is a remarkable folding chromolithograph panorama print of the Expo.
