Drawing on paper 9 1/4 x 7 1/4 in. Sell as attributed or style of the artist, Ernest Howard Shepard (St John's Wood, December 10, 1879-London, March 24, 1976) better known as E. H. Shepard, was a British cartoonist, cartoonist, and illustrator. Although he is best known for his illustrations for four Winnie the Pooh books written by AA Milne —When We Were Very Young (1924), Winnie-the-Pooh (1926), Now We Are Six (1927), and The House at Pooh Corner (1928) —1 was also, from 1921 to 1953, one of the leading political cartoonists for the British satirical magazine Punch, being its main cartoonist since 1945.
