This cotton 1880's/1890's red and white tree of life quilt is hand pieced and hand quilted, with small pieces and a nice red and black print fabric. The quilt was found in Missouri.It measures 84" X 86" and is in excellent condition, with a couple of small, faint spots (hard to find) and no wear. The quilt feels strong and sturdy overall.The quilting is EXCEPTIONAL, with quilting around the piecework and in straight line, grid, diamond and feathered wreath designs in the background, all at an even 12-14 stitches to the inch.The back is white, the hand stitched binding is the same red print used in the interior, and the batting is thin. You can see cotton seed residue inside when you hold the quilt up to the light.
