1) Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute, School of Music Tuskegee, Alabama typed letter ink signed by the African-American composer and choral conductor, William L. Dawson.
Addressed on Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute letterhead to William Van den Burg of the San Francisco Symphony, November 22, 1935.
Dawson discusses his new score of the Negro Folk Symphony originally composed in 1934 and premiered by Leopold Stowkowski with the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra.
Dimensions: 7 1/2 in. x 9 1/2 in.
2) "FATHER OF THE BLUES" William Christopher HANDY typed and pen signed by W.C. Handy.
Handy discusses his works and travels from Broadway to Los Angeles.
Please note we have page 2, 3 & 4, missing page 1.
Dimensions: 8 1/4 in. x 10 1/8 in.
3) George W. Handy Catholic Guild of America Application filled out and script signed by G.W. Handy, 1951 (3 1/4 in. x 5 1/2 in.).
4) ETHEL WATERS a letter on the Negro Actors Guild of America letterhead , signed in ink SINCERELY ETHEL WATERS New York, November 15, 1950.
Dimensions: 8 1/2 in. x 11 in.
All original letters are in good condition.
