The obverse depicts a walking Lady Liberty, holding a branch in one arm and extending the other outward, with a radiant sun in the background, "LIBERTY" across the upper periphery, "In God We Trust" on the lower right, and the date 1947 on the bottom. The verso shows a left-facing eagle standing atop a branch, "United States of America" along the top periphery, "E Pluribus Unum" on the left side, and "HALF DOLLAR" on the bottom. MS 65. Slabbed. The term slabbed refers to coins that have been submitted to a professional grading service to certify the grade of the coin. Grading services experts examine the coin, assign the coin a grade, and seal it into a hard plastic 'slab' with a label that indicates coin type, date, mintmark, variety, and grade. In addition, the certified coin is oftentimes accompanied by a photographed certificate. The holder prevents any tampering or fraudulent replacement of the certified coin with something else. Most collectors and dealers readily accept the grades of slabbed coins. Given this, slabbed coins are favored highly.
