Vintage Sterling Silver Amethyst Ring, Emerald Cut, size 6. It is 9.5mm x 8mm with an X-type woven designed band. The band is 9.2mm wide at the top of the band and it tapers down to 2.6mm at the back. The weave pattern comes down to the side of the finger over half-way down the finger. The weight of the ring is appx. 3.94 grams. It is appx. 1970's-1980's era. Boho appeal. This would work too as an engagement ring. The amethyst is prong-set and sits higher than the the woven pattern in the band. From the undercarriage of the ring is sits up 6.5mm. It is marked STER and tested too - there may be a maker's mark in front of the STER but I cannot make it out. I thas some wear but the stone is clear and bright. It does not test as glass but does test as amethyst. It would be natural or created amethyst. It takes very high end gemology equipment to confirm natural amethyst as amethyst is a very clean stone in its natural state and the created type is so close you need very specialized equipment that is extremely expensive. I am a trained gemologist and do have the standard equipment but this is how it is with amethyst. This is in good condition and will last a life time. Very sturdily made.
