ACOMA POLYCHROME OLLA, by DELORES SANDOVAL SANCHEZ (also spelled Dolores), ca. 1935 Condition: Excellent for its age Mark: None Description: It has a vivid design, w/ four circles w/ whirligigs, in four rim-to-base squares, set on points. Triangle spaces between medallions and squares are painted red-brown. Base and inside rim roughly painted red-brown. The surface was not polished. The dealer says that the triangles of vertical fine-line is a very early use of it. Note: The artist was Delores (or Dolores) Sandoval Sanchez, 1887-1991: (Died at 103). (1) The dealers were Allan and Carol Hayes, of Summerhouse Antiques; coauthors of many books on Indian pottery. They say Dolores was the matriarch of a large potting family. (2) Southern Pueblo Pottery book, p262, has a 3" write-up on her. 8.5"d x 7"h.
