Description
Northern Europe, Scandinavia, Viking or Norse culture, ca. 8th to 10th century CE. A forged-steel axe head with a tall, curved blade bearing a sharpened edge, a sturdy neck, and a triangular socketing shaft on the back. The simplified design of this axe head suggests its use in utilitarian tasks, though the blade edge could certainly double as a battle-ready weapon. Size: 7" L x 3.8" H (17.8 cm x 9.7 cm)
