Description
This is a higly detailed, large thematic map of air currents and trade winds and its associated impact on navigation. The colored areas near the equator indicate regions prone to monsoons and hurricanes. Detail is offered on typical hurricane route, the route of the great storm of November, 1836 etc. The upper inset charts the Rodriguez Hurricane in April, 1843 in the Indian Ocean. The lower left inset charts the probable path of numerous Caribbean Hurricanes between 1780 and 1837. The lower right inset shows the path of Culloden's Hurricane in March, 1809 and Boyne's Gale in 1835 in the southern Indian Ocean. The bottom central three insets show the Barometrical Compass, Thermometrical Compass and the trade Wind limits in seasons. Based on Berghaus' thematic atlas. Decorative piano key border.
