Description
When all vending collectors think of the best of cast-iron vending, the classic names are always discussed, Mills Orbit, Orbit Jr., Gabel Merchant, The Griffin always come to mind - and then there is Mystery 71. Very little is known about this great cast-iron vending machine. There are no marked castings, there is remnants of a front decal that reveals nothing of the manufacturer and aside from faint similarities to the Gabel Merchant on page 64 of "Silent Salesman Too", there is nothing available to give this impressive, stately, peanut machine a worthy name to be remembered. Mystery 71, made of cast-iron with no breaks or repairs, green paint with faint gold highlights, a front glass remnant of a decal faded with age, a large hopper bulk mechanism, and a look that would stop any collector in their tracks. If you're looking to collect the best, the list is very short beyond Mystery 71. Circa 1905. Padlock and no key. Condition: (Very Good). Dimensions: 20 - 1/2" x 12 - 1/2" x 10".
