Description
The oldest American lithographer advertisement for fireworks we have seen. According to the United States Department of the Interior National Park Service National Register of Historic Places, 145 Hester Street in the Bowery NY., the address shown on the lithograph, dates to the early 19th century, and there is record of a printer and sheet music store occupying that location. A wonderfully framed, extremely rare and exceptionally early sign advertising fireworks in a bright, crisp multi-colored array shapes and design. Simply stating "Fireworks Sold Here". There is a very small amount of edge wear to the boarder, and a very small amount of discoloration along the top of the advertisement which does not effect the overall presence and presentation of the image. Marked along the bottom edge, "Sold by C. Brown, Cheap Label Printer, 145 Hester St. one door from the Bowery, NY." Arguably one of the best fireworks signs ever offered for sale. Condition: (9.0 - 9.5). Dimensions: Frame: 33 - 1/2" x 38 - 1/2".
