Description
An Egyptian wood mummy mask, Late Period, c. 664 - 332 BC, the facial portion from an anthropoid sarcophagus lid, the features attractive with deep set eyes and large lips and false beard; all cut from a single piece of dense, sturdy cedar. 13 x 7 ¾ in (32.9 x 19.7 cm). A pleasing display piece with remnants of original pigments and light deposits; remains of wood dowels still in place on reverse. Custom lucite and metal base. Ex New York private family estate.
