Description
A nice Egyptian painted wood figure, Middle Kingdom, c. 2061 - 1690 BC, from a large model wood boat or a scene from daily life. He is depicted seated with carved face and black cosmetic details. He wears a kilt which is painted white and arms which would have held the oars of a boat or would have been performing some task. The arms are ancient, but may not be original to the figure. H: 7 in (17.8 cm). Well preserved pigment with mineral deposits. On wood base. Ex New Jersey private estate.
