Philippe Mohlitz (French, 1941-2019). A Limited Edition black and white Surrealist engraved etching on Rives paper, titled "The Annunciation." A Surrealist scene with a large anthropomorphic skeleton and a woman with a halo nimbus encircling her head holding a large object that resembles an egg. Between these forms is an orb that projects the image of large smoke trail, possibly from an explosion. The artist, Mohlitz, was a key figure in the resurgence of traditional intaglio printmaking in France in the 1960s and 70s. Number 1/30. Limited Edition information to lower left, artist signed and dated [19]67 in pencil to lower right. Good overall condition. Measures 6 1/4 in. x 7 3/4 in. (sight), 13 in. x 19 3/4 in. (border).
