Attributed to Joseph Cabus (1824-1894) NYC, ca. 1890, hand carved and gilded with compo elements in a great standard size, a tour de force of Stanford White's design, this frame is nearly identical to a frame that White had made for a painting that he purchased from Charles Courtney Curran (Old and Modern Paintings Belonging to the Estate of the Late Stanford White, American Art Galleries, Mendelssohn Hall, New York, April 11, 1907, lot no. 49) Rabbet: 25" x 30" Overall Dimensions: 37" x 42" Molding Width: 6"
Condition
Excellent original surface with chipping and crazing to the gilding throughout, does not detract from appearance.
