Description
Original drawing from the Chicago Tribune. Ink on paper 10 x 23 in., (sight), 17 x 29 in. (framed). Born in Spring Creek, PA on Dec. 18, 1905. Johnson enrolled at the AIC in 1923. At that school he met Frank Willard who had just begun drawing "Moon Mullins." Johnson was his assistant for 35 years and, when Willard died in 1958, Johnson took over "Moon Mullins" and continued drawing the cartoon until 1991.
