Livingston (Castro) Roberts (American; Florida, 1941-2004). Original oil painting on board. Florida pastoral landscape with four bovine cow and bull forms grazing along a canal, and acres of pasture with palm trees to background and foreground, under a cloud filled sky. Signed lower right L ROBERTS. Roberts was an original founding member of The Florida Highwaymen, young 1950s and 1960s era African American landscape artistsmentored by Albert Ernest (Beanie) Backus (American, 1906-1990), who was regarded as the Dean of Florida Painters. Presented in a rustic wood frame. Good overall condition, with normal wear to frame. Measures 24 in. x36 in. (board), 28 3/4 in. x 40 3/4 in. (framed). Hill Auction Gallery will not ship.
