Demps and his companion Florida Highwaymen were young 1950s and 1960s era African American landscape artists mentored by Albert Ernest (Beanie) Backus (American, 1906-1990), who was regarded as the Dean of Florida Painters. Presented in a decorative wood frame. Good overall condition, with some loss and normal wear to frame. Measures 18 in. x 23 1/4 in. (board), 21 1/2 in. x 27 3/4 in. (framed).
