"At the Beach", oil on canvas, signed lower right and verso, depicting a seated nude woman viewed from behind, nearly life-sized, label from Charles H. Cobb of Boston Gallery verso, in a hand carved gold Arts & Crafts frame, OS: 48" x 40", SS: 41" x 33". Very good condition.Burlingame was a WPA artist, his 1935 fishing themed murals at the Wildwood, New Jersey Post Office have survived and exhibit similar handling and palette. He lived for a bit in the Village with Jackson Pollack right after the war, and his work became more abstract later in his life.
