Description
This lot consists of a fine art print on paper, done in the realistic landscape style of George Knaus (1928-2015). Handwritten graphite inscription at bottom of piece read, "21/100. On Campus. George Knaus." This dynamic image depicts a quaint courtyard path and handsome stone architecture of an American college campus. This unframed piece measures approximately 11" x 15".
George Knaus (1928-2015) was an observational master. His landscapes are replete with the exploration of both space and composition; Knaus was equally enamored with the various media he employed as he was with the final product. George Knaus studied Painting and Printmaking at the University of Hartford, Hartford Art School. He was a teaching artist in Falls River, Connecticut and Kent, Connecticut. George Knaus lived and painted in Gardiner, New York.
