This lot consists of a graphite illustration on paper, done in the Magical Realism style of Leonard Tsuguharu Foujita (Japanese-French, 1886-1968). Image depicts a young girl with loose curls and slanted, wide-set eyes. A delicate and masterful study. Handwritten graphite inscription at lower left reads, "Foujita". Unframed measurements approximately 11.75" x 8.25".

Leonard Tsuguharu Foujita (Japanese-French, 1886-1968) was a painter and printmaker. Foujita applied Japanese ink techniques to his works of Post-Impressionism, Magical Realism, and Expressionism. Foujita had strong ties to France, where he spent a great deal of his career. After Foujita's 1918 exposition in Paris, he became renowned for his images of women and cats.
