Africa, ca. 19th century. A stunning necklace of 52 gorgeous copal beads each skillfully hand-carved in the "cornerless cube" shape and gradually increasing in size from one end to the other. Secured in place with small knots between them, each translucent bead features its own lovely unique inclusions creating a variegated appearance. Size: 29.5" L (74.9 cm) Largest Bead Size: 0.75" L x 0.75" W x 0.5" H (1.9 cm x 1.9 cm x 1.3 cm)
Provenance: ex Estate of Eldert Bontekoe, Pegasi Numismatics, Ann Arbor, Michigan USA acquired before 2000
