1914-d Buffalo Nickel 5c Grades Choice AU/BU Slider. To quote David Hall from PCGS: The 1914-D is quite rare in circulated grades and is one of the semi-keys dates in the Buffalo nickel series. There were appparently some examples saved in mint state condition although scarce, choice and gem specimens can be obtained. In gem MS65 or better condition, the 1914-D is about equal in rarity to the 1913-D Type 2 and 1915-D. With a mintage of just over 3.9 million pieces, the little-saved 1914-D has become a popular semi key Buffalo nickel issue. Relatively few Mint State pieces were saved at time of mintage. It was the 1930s before mintmark collectors sought highly graded pieces by mint, when most of the 3.9 million-piece mintage were well-circulated. This Near Mint State example is a Great find for the Astute Buffalo Collector.
