Description
STAMPED "ROCKBRIDGE", SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, approximately one-gallon capacity, tall ovoid form with two incised neck rings, tab handles, and squared rim. Brushed cobalt swag decoration on unmarked side, cobalt highlighting stamp. Attributed to John Morgan's Bustle-Firebaugh Pottery or the Rockbridge Baths Pottery. Circa 1830. 10 3/4" H, 4 7/8" D rim.
Bottom broken out and poorly glued, corresponding crack radiating up back side, chipping to one handle.
