MARYLAND MERCHANT'S DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, approximately half-gallon capacity, cylindrical form with squared rim, stamped "A. W. CROSLEE / DEALER IN / DRY GOODS' GROCERIES &C / QUANTICO. MD." Brushed cobalt petalled wreath decoration around name. Produced in Baltimore, MD, probably the pottery of Peter Herrmann (1825-1901). Fourth quarter 19th century. 9" H, 5 1/4" D rim.
Undamaged except for a shallow chip to base at rear.
