Description
Large pair of Louis XV style candelabra lamps, 20th century, in the French taste after a model by Michel Claude Clodion (French 1738-1814), the first central figure modeled as a young Bacchus/Dionysus, the other figure modeled as a young Pan/Faunus with hoof feet, both crowned with a wreath and wearing a sash of grapes and leaves, the bronze figures amongst a naturalistic landscape are each supporting three gilt bronze scrolling acanthus leaf branches with grape clusters terminating with candle cups and bobeches, both supported on gilt bronze fluted column bases with egg-and-dart and acanthus leaf details, mounted on red marble bases, unsigned, with black lampshades. Overall: 39” H x 11.75” W x 9.5” D.
