Japan, late 19th / early 20th Century, with applied gilt ring and tassel cord decoration along the sides; painted in iron-red, grey ochre, and black enamel, heightened with gilding, with dense frieze of figures holding scrolls, set on a crackled cream-colored ground; each with painted numeral on underside of base: "62" & "68"
