Item Details

Description

Wedgwood, circa 1774.

A VEILLEUSE (night lamp, food warmer) including its spirit lamp. A teapot is shown resting in the opening at the top, as Design 57 of the 1774 shape catalog. It is shown with other cooking accessories in the book "Wedgwood" by Mankowitz' Figure 26 of the 1817 pattern book. The acorn shaped opening for the fire pot is distinctive and appears in both Wedgwood pattern books, but is quite different in the Leeds version.

Dimensions: H.: 7 1/8 in.D.: ;5 1/8 in.H.11 3/4 -including tea kettle

Condition

Condition: A repair to the front of the Veilleuse, a repaired crack which extends from the front to the underside of the handle, approx. 3 inches up to the rim, the handles of the tea kettle is repaired with overpainting and reattached. Stain from scorching.
