Two Carved Cinnabar Lacquer Vases. The first, hu-form vase with a gilt rim and four lobed sides finely carved in relief with floral scrolls with four reserves depicting farmers in outdoor settings; the second, baluster vase rising from a tall splayed foot to a canted shoulder and tall waisted neck applied with a handle on one side and a metal plaque on the other side, carved to the main sides with two opposing cartouches of figures in landscape against dense diaper patterns, the other sides with peony flowers, all reserved from foliate meanders. {Height of the first: 12 inches (30.5 cm)}.
