Circa 1815, Signed Gillows Lancaster. The piece is exceptionally crafted having a molded top above oval paneled doors housing shelves within and very nicely figured oval panels leading down to lowercase which houses a well appointed pull out writing surface, the interior of the fall front is stamped with the impression of maker's mark at the edge. the writing surface leads down to three slightly graduated drawers and rests atop a bracket foot. Some scattered shrinkage and an area of inlay damage at left of case. Each foot is original and has been cracked and re-secured at front. Other minor imperfections consistent with age.
