First half 19th century, 211 x 115 cm, South East Caucasus
In this very old, white-ground Moghan rug, two rows of six Memling güls are divided along the central axis by a pole of slanting stripes which is decorated with several nested diamonds in diverse colours. Hooked diamonds are aligned in a row in the golden yellow border. – Obvious signs of age and wear, low pile, the foundation is visible in a number of places; one long, stitched horizontal tear at the centre of the field.
