John Frederick Kensett Landscape Painting, first time to auction, attributed to John Frederick Kensett (American 1816 - 1872), oil on canvas, a landscape with trees and rocks signed lower left "JFK". Size 18" x 24" Kensett was an American artist and engraver of the Hudson River School and a founder of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. His signature works are landscapes of New England and New York State and his style associated with Luminism. His early works conveyed the influence of Thomas Cole but with more restraint in palette and composition.
