**Originally Listed At $1500**

North America, United States, ca. first half of the 19th century CE. A beautiful blunderbuss with a hand-carved wooden stock with a crosshatch-patterned grip. The thick backstock is lined with a curved brass sheet, and the iron trigger is protected with an intricate iron guard. The percussion firing mechanism bears a thick hammer above the petite percussion cap holder, and attractive foliate motifs are etched atop the neighboring screw plate. The back of the barrel has an octagonal form that gradually smooths into a widening cylinder, and the wide muzzle allows large projectiles - akin to petite cannon balls - to be fired. Size: 32" L (81.3 cm)

Provenance: private Glorieta, New Mexico, USA collection; ex-private Carrizozo, New Mexico, USA collection
