ANTOINETTE B. HERVEY, In Mother's Paris Gown, Hazel at 16, 1915, 6.25x4.5" Platinum print, Printed c. 1915, Signed on tissue under print left. Signed and inscribed in pencil on mount verso: In Mother's Paris Gown / by Hazel at 16 / Antoinette B. Hervey / 351 West 114th St / New York / Platinum.

One of the wonderful lesser-known female pictorialists. Her prints are small gems.

Antoinette B. Hervey (1857-1945) made pictorial images from the 1910s into the 1930s. Over a 25-year period (1906-1931), she focused on New York architecture, primarily the cathedral of St. John the Divine. She studied with Clarence White, was heavily involved in the Pictorial Photographers of America (PPA), and actively exhibited in photographic salons.

Excellent. Mount tissue is tearing, with some holes and edge loss. Some glue and hinge remnants on larger mount.
